New Zealand is a beautiful country situated on the southwestern side of the Pacific Ocean. It is among the finest tourist spots in the world — a cluster of islands blessed with vibrant natural beauty and breathtaking scenic views. From gleaming mountains to rolling countryside, New Zealand attracts thousands of tourists throughout the year, including travellers from the United Kingdom.
Since 1 October 2019, UK citizens must hold a valid NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before travelling to New Zealand. This means visa-free travel to New Zealand is no longer possible without first obtaining an NZeTA. We have created an easy and simple online platform that helps you apply for a New Zealand NZeTA from UK quickly through an online application form. The NZeTA is electronically linked to your passport upon approval — no physical visa sticker is required.
Check these conditions you must meet before applying for a New Zealand NZeTA for UK citizens:
The New Zealand NZeTA for UK citizens is typically processed within 48–72 hours. Apply at least 5–6 business days before departure to allow sufficient time for any document verification. After approval, your NZeTA will be sent to the email address provided.
Alongside the NZeTA, you must also pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), used for the development of New Zealand's infrastructure and environment. The IVL is submitted once and is valid for the full 2-year NZeTA period. After approval, your NZeTA will be emailed in PDF format.
Three processing options are available for the New Zealand NZeTA for UK citizens. See our visa fees page for current pricing:
The NZeTA is valid for 2 years from the date of issue and allows multiple entries. British citizens benefit from a special arrangement with New Zealand that permits stays of up to 6 months per visit. This means you can travel to New Zealand, take a trip to Fiji or Australia, and return to New Zealand with the same NZeTA.
UK citizens do not need a traditional visa to visit New Zealand. However, an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) is mandatory and must be obtained online before departure. The NZeTA has been required since 1 October 2019. British citizens can stay in New Zealand for up to 6 months per visit under their special arrangement with New Zealand.
